This week the folks over as Trifecta Writing Challenge have given us FLY as our one-word prompt.

I hope you enjoy and please make sure to check out the other Trifectans who dared to brave this challenge.

Oh, how time can fly.  The memories we shared are fading and some long gone.  I try to reclaim them as we lay under our favorite oak tree, but your replies are mute.  I press my ear to the ground and all I hear is silence from the grave.

1a : to move in or pass through the air with wings
b : to move through the air or before the wind or through outer space
c : to float, wave, or soar in the air <flags flying at half-mast>

Please note that the above examples of the third definition use various tenses of the verb.  For Trifecta, remember, you must not change the tense.  We need fly, not flying or flew.

It’s mind-boggling how silent the grave is.

This is so wistful and sad. Lovely use of the prompt. 🙂

Brevity worked here. No matter how hard we try, some memories will be lost, while others fade or morph into something other than what really happened.

I think I might go short for this week’s prompt. Your brevity didn’t diminish the message at all.

  6. LaTonya says :

Fading and gone? Or are some gone while others are fading? Loss is hard. Appreciate the message.

  7. Gabriella says :

Short but to the point. Very well-done!
