Poker Face

Today I decided to combine my A Word A Day and the Trifecta Writing Challenge.
This week the folks over at Trifecta Writing Challenge have given us CRACK as our one-word prompt and the word of the day is MORTIFY

I hope you enjoy and please make sure to check out the other Trifectans who dared to brave this challenge.

Sarah decided to skip lacrosse practice.  As she strolled home she thought about entering the Google Science Fair Competition.  Everyone said she should, but she had more confidence in scoring a goal than her mad science skills.

She immediately sensed something was wrong when she got home. The curtains were drawn.  She heard voices, but couldn’t make out who they were.  Sarah entered cautiously and realized they were coming from upstairs.  She crept upstairs, saw her brother’s door cracked and carefully approached.  As she peered through the crack she was mortified to see her brother and her girlfriend in bed together.

3a : a narrow break : fissure
b : a narrow opening —used figuratively in phrases like fall through the cracks to describe one that has been improperly or inadvertently ignored or left out

Hi Mary Beth, thanks for stopping by. That’s definitely something to look at or maybe the smell of sweet science revenge. Who knows? Mayshe does have some mad science skills after all.

If only her science skills could help her concoct something that would help her forget that! Thanks for linking up! ~Mary Beth
