The Savior

My take on this weeks Friday Fictioneers.

There it sat amongest the cobwebs and boxes, a painful but joyful reminder of years gone by.

Sarah didn’t understand why I kept it. I told her, “it’s a reminder that this ram gave its life to save Isaac’s.”

“Abraham,” she’d always say shaking her head and with a chuckle. “You don’t really believe this ram saved Isaacs life on that mountain, do you?”

“Maybe. Maybe not.” One thing is certain, if it hadn’t been there Isaac and I would have starved to death and Sarah never would have forgiven me for killing her only son.

saving the head as a memento, what a thought! i love stories that delve a bit deeper into biblical moments. very creative.

I like this retelling. The thought of taking the head as a moment I more makes sense in this context.

Great, surreal little story. I find myself walking away thinking … is that a true story? Abraham and Isaac for the modern age.

    Dear Dailyshorts,

Quite a memento. A different take on the prompt. Nicely done.

I suppose God let him keep the head? Funny how you and I had completely opposite takes on the photo!

I thought Abraham being able to keep the head was pretty ironic. Not sure a mounted ram’s head would have been acceptable back in those time. I probably had at least half a dozen stories written, all different takes, but liked this one the best.
