About the Slinger
I was born on a hot summer night in June in Washington, DC. Oh wait we don’t need to go back that far and I don’t want to bore you with the minutia.
I started writing when I was fairly young. Just a wee bit of a whippersnapper. I won my first short story writing award when I was 8. Took home first place and a fancy blue ribbon. I wasn’t particularly interested in nurturing the craft, so I did what I could to get out of going to writing camps and workshops.
When I was in middle school, I picked up my pen again and this time I was interested in becoming a better writer and started going to writing workshops. Fast forward to high school, I was the only one in my 9th grade class that got a perfect score on the writing part of the standardized test. I wrote a play and the drama club performed it, and I won an award for said play.
However, since college I’ve written sporadically.
I joined a writing group recently and one of the questions was, ‘Do you have a writing style?’ After careful consideration, I said “it’s rather macabre. Kind of like Edgar Allan Poe.” I’m sure Poe has influenced my writing a great deal. I’ve always loved how dark his writing is. He wrote right to our fears as humans. I’m not there yet, but maybe one day.
While we’re on the subject of who I most write like. There’s website I that I was turned on to by a fellow blogger called, ‘I Write Like.’ Well, the results on four of my short stories can up with three different writers.
Kurt Vonnegut
Stephen King
Stephane Myer
I’m interested to see how this pans out after I finish the Challenge.
So, what writer will I write like next?
Welp, that’s it and thanks for stopping by and reading,
Erica

Good seeing you yesterday, Erica. And thanks for your blog address. However EA Poe always scares me. And S King does too!

Dear Erica,
It’s much much better now without having lost the interest and intrigue of your persona. Thanks for considering suggestions.
Best Wishes,

Without sounding like a stalker or something would like to know more about you, on your About page, ie approx. age, where you live (roughly!!) and anything else that might be interesting other than what you have written already (which was interesting 🙂 )

You’re fine and you’re right I do need to update the About page. When I created this blog a few years ago, I was purposefully ambiguous, but since I’ve started another blog that has a picture of me on it and I’ve been directing people here for some things it doesn’t make sense to maintain that level anoymity.

Awesome, Josna! I look forward to reading your answers and finding some new blogs to visit. I agree work is a nuisance, especially when your trying to do something so profound as this.:D
Sorry it took so long for me to respond, but the Challenge is keeping me on my toes.

Thank you very much for your Liebster Award nomination. I will respond properly as soon as I can, mentioning and linking to A Short a Day on my blog and nominating other blogs in turn. I’m so enjoying the process of finding out about other writers and their tremendously varied blogs through this month’s A-Z Challenge. Only it’s only Day 3 and I’m already exhausted; work is such a nuisance! Thanks again.
