Not While I’m Alive

For today’s WP Daily Prompt, I though about creating a character and writing a story, but decided against it.  Maybe later down the road I’ll write a story featuring one or more of these places.

Is there a place in the world you never want to visit? Where, and why not?

  • The Morgue — It’s just something very eerie about a morgue that just doesn’t sit right with me.  Yes part of it is that it’s inundated with dead people in a giant refrigerator and in drawers
  • A Cemetery — Cemeteries are very beautiful places and look extremely peaceful, but I have to tell you Michael Jackson’s Thriller video ruined it for me
  • A Funeral Home — It’s not that this place just reminds me of taxidermist for people.  That alone would probably be alright, but it’s the workers that give me the heebie jeebies.  They speak in such a solemn and monotone voice and have these weird and awkward smiles on their faces.  I can’t help but think their fitting me for a casket
  • Jail — I have absolutely no desire to be Big Bertha’s cell mate and I have a really hard time with authority.  I’m the boss of me and having someone else be the boss of me would not go over very well.  Also that I’m in a little cell with a little window and not to mention surrounded by women all day.  That in of itself would drive me to drink, if I could have alcohol.
  • Antarctica — Why would I want to go there.  It’s an ice abyss and it’s just to damn cold
  • The Sahara Desert or Death Valley — To frackin hot during the day and to frackin cold at night. I’m a cool 65°–75° kinda gal with no humidity

What I Long For

Alright today I decided to tackle two challenges in one post.  The Daily Post Prompt: Places and the Trifecta weekend challenge of writing a piece using: 1) only 33 words and 2) it had to be in first person.  So here it or rather they are.  Enjoy! 😀

****

I never yearned for writing our names in the sand or skiing or camping as long as she was here.  Now she’s gone — that’s all I long for, and her at my side.

Your Guess is As Good As Mine

Remember when you wrote down the first thought you had this morning? Great. Now write a post about it.

This is my response to today’s WP Daily Prompt.

First of all, I don’t keep pen and paper by the bed. Secondly, I have a lot of thoughts running through my head when I wake up in the morning. One such thought is “Damnit. Is it really time for me to get up?” Another is pondering what I’m going to wear. And still another is the classic “5 more minutes mom, please”, even though my mother no longer wakes me and further more it would be a bit difficult for her to do so since we don’t live in the same house. Inevitably those 5 more minutes turn into 15, 20, or maybe even 30 minutes.

By the time I leave the house I’ve probably tossed around Read More…

Normalacy is Relative

Many of us think of our lives as boringly normal, while others live the high life. Take a step back, and take a look at your life as an outsider might. Now, tell us at least six unique, exciting, or just plain odd things about yourself.
  1. My mother refers to me as Encyclopedia Britannica.  I know a little about a lot, which makes me dangerous enough to get myself into trouble or more frequently other people.
  2. I have a very dry sense of humor
  3. Most people think I don’t like children.  I do, but can’t stand bad, disrespectful ones.  Makes me want to string them up from the nearest tree by their toenails.
  4. I believe in the 2nd Amendment — that it is the right of the people to keep and bear arms.  However, I do believe that in some instances this has gone to far.  I do not believe in assault weapons for the average every day Jane or Joe.
  5. I watch cartoons every opportunity I get.  Rugrats are a personal favorite and of course the classics — the Flintstones, the Jetsons, Scooby Doo (not the new stuff and definitely nothing with Scrappy Doo).
  6. You don’t want to make me angry and you definitely don’t want to see me angry.

What Nightmares Are Made Of

WordPress Daily Prompt

You’re having a nightmare, and have to choose between three doors. Pick one, and tell us about what you find on the other side.

The smell of spring was in the air.  Everything was in bloom all at once.  Tulips. Azaleas. Cherry Blossoms. Dogwoods.  Since it was such a beautiful warm spring day, I decided to walk the mile home and hopefully decompress enough to fall straight off to sleep.  It’s never easy to get to sleep after an 18-hour non-stop adrenalin-pumping shift in the ER.   It was perhaps the busiest night we’ve had in the past eight months. Two heart attacks, a stroke, a child who swallowed some common house hold cleaner, a car crash victim, a man who walked in Read More…
